Huskies Host Western Conn. and Unity on Saturday (12:00 p.m.)
NASHUA, N.H. -- The Rivier University women's volleyball team won its eighth straight match Thursday night sweeping the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-16) in a non-conference Senior Night match at Muldoon Gymnasium.
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Raiders are now 27-3 overall. The Huskies dropped their second straight to slide to 15-12 overall.
Senior Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) led the way for the Raiders with a match-high 14 kills on a .417 hitting percentage. Classmate Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) added 11 kills and seven digs, and senior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) had nine kills. Sophomore Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) directed the offense passing out 33 assists. Junior libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) had 17 digs.
The Huskies were paced by junior Jess Williamson (Goffstown, N.H.), who totaled nine kills and twelve digs – both team highs. Sophomore Nicole Schmitz (Saint Paul, Minn.) and junior Robbi Termentozzi (Littleton, Colo.) each added six kills, and senior Megan Nilson (Granby, Conn.) dished out 19 assists. Freshman Jenna Graves (Corinth, Texas) provided additional help along the back line with nine digs in the loss.
Southern Maine will close the regular season this Saturday (12:00 p.m.) hosting Western Connecticut State University and Unity College in a tri-match at the Hill Gymnasium. Rivier will be in Boston for a GNAC tri-match at Emmanuel College with St. Joseph's College (Me.).
