WATERVILLE, Maine -- Rookie Cindy Giandomenico (Walpole, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Colby College Mules to a 5-0 victory over the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference women's ice hockey game Tuesday at Alfond Rink.

The win was the fifth straight for the Mules who are 5-0 on the season, and drawing votes in this week's national poll.  The Huskies slide to 3-5 overall.

The Huskies, backstopped by sophomore goalie Alexa Henriksen (Marshfield, Mass.), played the Mules to a scoreless draw in the opening 20 minutes.  The Mules outshot the Huskies 11-7 in the period, but Henriksen and her Colby counterpart, sophomore Nina Prünster (Salzburg, Austria), turned everything away.

Giandomenico gave the home side the lead in the opening minute of the second period with her second goal of the season.  Junior Hailey Rohall (Weston, Mass.) made it 2-0 at 3:59 with her first marker, and senior Izzy Tegtmeyer (Portland, Ore.) put the Mules up three at 9:15.  Colby held USM without a shot on goal in the period, outshooting the visitors 17-0.

Giandomenico struck early in the third period for her second goal, and sophomore Lexi Cafiero (Guilford, Conn.) scored an unassisted short-handed goal at 11:42 to complete the scoring.

Colby finished the game with a 39-20 edge in shots on goal.  Henriksen, making her first career start, had 34 saves.  Prünster had seven saves over the first 29:15 of play before giving way to junior Cierra San Roman (Orange, Calif.) after the Tetgmeyer goal.  San Roman stopped 13 shots, all in the third period.

Southern Maine is off until December 6 when it hosts Johnson and Wales University for a New England Hockey Conference game.  Colby also is off until December 6 when it begins a two-game non-conference series at home against Saint Michael's College.
