WATERVILLE, Maine – In a statistically close battle, the University of Southern Maine Huskies kept the Thomas College Terriers off of the scoreboard to earn a 0-0 double overtime result on the road at Thomas' Smith Field Wednesday in a non-conference men's soccer game.
Playing in its third overtime contest of the season, Southern Maine earns its second draw of the season and is now 0-4-2. The Terriers earn their first draw and are now 0-4-1.
With Thomas outshooting USM 11-9 in regulation, USM sophomore goalkeeper Cameron Atherton (New Milford, Conn.) made all three of his saves to help send the game into overtime. The Huskies outshot Thomas 6-1 in the two overtime periods but were unable to secure the game-winner. Junior Joseph Kalilwa (Lewiston, Maine) led the Huskies offense with three attempts, while senior Chris Pepin (Bowdoinham, Maine/Mt. Ararat) had to shots on target for USM.
. Thomas goalkeepers Nick Chandler and Jonathan LeClair split time, Chandler started the game and returned for the overtime periods making five saves, including two in the first overtime period. LeClair made one save in the second half.
