Athletic Healthcare Services

The role of Athletic Healthcare Services is to provide the highest quality healthcare to the student-athletes of the University of Southern Maine. The Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are highly trained professionals with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds. They are credentialed by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and the State of Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. Student athletic training majors, under the direct supervision of the ATCs, augment the healthcare services provided to the student-athletes. The comprehensive healthcare services include injury prevention, recognition and assessment, treatment, disposition, rehabilitation, and healthcare administration and promotion. Additional healthcare services are provided through referral to USM's University Health and Counseling Services and to Portland area sports medicine specialists.
