Maimone Named ECAC D3 New England Rookie of the Week
GORHAM, Maine -- The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) announced its weekly women's track and field weekly awards Wednesday afternoon with University of Southern Maine freshman Penny Maimone (Stoneham, Mass./Arlington Catholic) being named the Corvias ECAC Division III New England Rookie of the Week. The weekly honor covers the week of April 11-17.
This is the second straight week that a first-year runner from USM has been selected as the ECAC Division III New England Rookie Track Athlete of the Week. Maimone joins classmate Heather Kendall (Lewiston, Maine) who received the honor last week.
Competing at the Panther Spring Invitational held Saturday (April 16) at Middlebury College, Maimone won the 200 meters with a personal best time of 26.03 seconds.
