Junior Runs in 400-meter Hurdles Trials
DELAWARE, Ohio -- University of Southern Maine junior Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) competed Thursday evening in the trials of the 400-meter hurdles at the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Dostie posted a time of one minute, 1.99 seconds to finish third in her trials heat and 13th overall. The three heat winners and next five best times advance to Saturday's final.
Wheaton College senior Ashante Little posted the quickest time in Thursday's trials breaking the meet record with her time of 58.51 seconds.
Dostie was making her second appearance at an NCAA Championships meet this school year. She competed in the 400 meters at the indoor championships in March. Dostie, a two-time Little East Conference champion in the 400 hurdles, qualified for the outdoor championships based upon her career-best time of 1:01.21 at the NEICAAA (New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association) New England Championships held at Westfield (Mass.) State University on May 10.
