USM Sets School Record in 4x400 Relay at ECAC Championships

TROY, N.Y. -- The University of Southern Maine women's 4 x 400-meter relay team set the school record for the third time in 12 days during the first day of competition at the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The USM quartet of sophomores Nicole Kirk (Scarborough, Maine) and Hannah Damron (Windham, Maine) and juniors Anna Whitaker (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) and Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) combined for a time of three minutes, 53.44 seconds to finish fourth overall.  The foursome shave 1.17 seconds off the record time they set last Saturday at the NEICAAA New England Championships.

Freshman Molly Gibeault (Brooklyn, Conn./Woodstock Academy) competed in the pole vault clearing 3.10 meters (10-2).

Competition continues on Friday with the first events getting underway at 10:00 a.m.
