GORHAM, Maine -- For the second straight week, and the third time this spring, the Little East Conference has named University of Southern Maine sophomore Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) its women's Track Athlete of the Week. Dostie is being recognized this week for her performance at the 2013 Little East Conference Championships meet this past Saturday at Bridgewater State University.
Dostie helped the Huskies win their 14th consecutive LEC outdoor title winning two events on the track and placing in three field events. Dostie stood atop the podium for winning the 100-meter hurdles with her meet record time of 14.99 seconds and the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.01. She also ran the anchor leg for the Huskies third-place 4 x 400-meter relay.
In the field events, Dostie was third in the high jump clearing an outdoor best 1.55 meters (5-1), and the long jump with a season best leap of 5.29 meters (17-4 ¼). She was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.42 meters (34-2 ¼).
Southern Maine took the title edging out Keene State, 158-156. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth was third in the six-team field with 101 points.
The Huskies will travel to the New England Division III Championships next Friday and Saturday (May 3-4) at Colby College.
