GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced Monday afternoon that University of Southern Maine sophomore Peyton Dostie (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) has been selected as the women's Track Athlete of the Week in recognition of her outstanding performance this past Saturday at the George Davis Invitational in Lowell, Mass.
Dostie, the LEC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, won the 100-meter hurdles and placed third in the 400-meter hurdles this past weekend at the Davis Invitational held on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Dostie captured the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.49 seconds, and she finished third in the 400-meter hurdles crossing the finish line at 1:04.24. Dostie's time in the 400 hurdles is the 18th fastest time in the nation this spring. She also qualified for the New England Division III, New England Open and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships in both events.
In addition to her exploits on the track, Dostie finished eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.55 meters (34-7 ½).
Southern Maine travels to Cambridge, Mass., this Saturday for the M.I.T. Invitational.
