GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference on Monday announced that two members of the University of Southern Maine women's outdoor track and field team, junior Molly Carl (York, Maine) and senior Hannah Patterson (Londonderry, N.H.), have been selected for weekly recognition following their performances this past weekend at the University of North Florida Invitational.

Carl, the 2012 LEC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, was named the Track Athlete of the Week for the first the time in her career.  Patterson is the recipient of the Field Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career.

Competing in her first 3,000-meter steeplechase, Carl crossed the finish line in fourth place with a time of 11-minutes, 13.33 seconds.  Carl's time ranks her seventh on the latest NCAA Division III performance list, and met the standards for the New England Division III, the NEIcAAA New England, and the ECAC Division III Championships in May.

Patterson had a standout weekend competing in three events.  She posted a career best mark of 44.65 meters (146-6) in the hammer throw to place 17th, and a mark of 40.79 meters (133-11) to finish ninth in the discus.  She also competed in the shot put.  Patterson's marks in the hammer throw and the discus put her on the NCAA performance list.  She also qualified for the N.E. Division III, NEIcAAA New England and ECAC Division III Championships in the discus, and the N.E. Division III and ECAC meets in the hammer throw.

The Huskies travel to Lowell, Mass., this Saturday to compete in the George Davis Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
