GORHAM, Maine -- Two members of the University of Southern Maine women's outdoor track and field team, junior Bethany Dumas (Augusta, Maine/Cony) and sophomore Molly Carl

(York, Maine), have been accepted into the field for the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  The field was announced Sunday afternoon.

Dumas, who will be making her second trip to the outdoor championships, made the field in the pole vault and javelin.  Carl will be among the competitors in the 1500 meters.

Dumas made the list of competitors in the pole vault field on the strength of her qualifying height of 3.56 meters (11-8) at the Little East Conference Championships.  In the javelin field for the second straight year, Dumas qualified with her mark of 41.54 meters at the Florida State Relays in March.  The women's pole vault will be contested on Thursday (5:00 p.m.) while the javelin competition is scheduled for Saturday (12:00 p.m.).

Carl, who set the school record in the 1500 meters on three occasions this spring, turned in her qualifying time of 4 minutes, 36.35 seconds at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships this past week.  The 1500 trials will be held Thursday evening (7:00 p.m.) with the finals on Saturday (2:00 p.m.).
