BETHLEHEM, Penn. -- Junior Bethany Dumas (Augusta, Maine/Cony) of the University of Southern Maine women's outdoor track and field team earned All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) honors in the pole vault during the first day of competition at the 2011 ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships being hosted at Moravian College.
Dumas tied with Emily Peace of Worcester Polytechnic Institute for seventh place in the pole vault by clearing 3.41 meters (11-2 1/4). Dumas also competed in the javelin finishing 13th with a throw of 35.94 meters (117-11).
Senior Hillary Hall (Waldoboro, Maine/Medomak Valley) posted the 24th quickest time in the 100-meter hurdles trials with a career-best time of 15.88 seconds. Hall became the fifth competitor in the history of the USM women's program to run a sub-16 second time in the 100-meter hurdles. Hall is slated to compete in the high jump on Friday.
The meet was delayed for more than an hour late in the afternoon as thunderstorms passed through the area. Competition resumes Friday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.
