GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced today that junior Hannah Patterson (Londonderry, N.H.) of the University of Southern Maine women's outdoor track and field team has been named the LEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week in recognition of her outstanding performance this past weekend.
Competing in three events at the Aloha Relays (at Bowdoin College), Patterson had one first-place finish and two seconds helping the Huskies finish third among the six teams competing. Patterson won the discus with a throw of 35.94 meters (117 feet, 11 inches) to lead a one-two finish by the Huskies.
In the hammer throw, Patterson established a new personal best with a throw of 43.55 meters (142-10) en route to a second-place result. That mark improved her qualifying status for the New England Division III Championships, and surpassed the qualifying standard for the ECAC Division III Championships.
