Temple is earning all-LEC honors for the first time in her career. Sliding into a starting role in her junior year, Temple played all of the Huskies' 1781:17 minutes during their 19-game schedule. Temple made a career-best 209 saves and posted three shut outs during her 2014 campaign. Her 209 saves are second in USM single-season history. Temple earned Little East Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors on September 22 after making 16 saves in a scoreless double-overtime draw against traditional rival Salem State University. Temple finished the season as the Little East Conference leader in saves (209) and saves per game (11.00). The 5-5 net-minder was also third in save percentage stopping 80.1 percent of shots faced on goal and sixth in shutouts.
"Marissa has trained extremely hard since stepping on the field at USM," noted Huskies' head coach Lisa Petruccelli. "I am very pleased that the LEC coaches recognized her dedication and talent off of the field. It is a great compliment to Marissa and she is very deserving. I look forward to Marissa's senior season and continued success. "
Now a two-time All-LEC performer, Burrell earned second team honors as well in 2013. Tied for second in the Southern Maine's goal scoring this season, Burrell, a midfielder, tallied a pair of goals in a 4-3 overtime loss to UMaine Farmington. A three-year member of the Huskies' squad, Burrell finished with eight goals and two assists in her career for 18 points.
"Kelly is one of our most technical players," noted Petruccelli. "Each season her confidence and her impact in the game has risen. She has pin-point passing accuracy and a tenacity on the defensive end that has made her our go-to player in the midfield. I am proud of what Kelly has achieved and her career at USM."
Bordeau, one of the Huskies' co-captains, is also a repeat all-conference athlete for the Huskies earning first team honors in 2013. A three-year member of the women's soccer team, Bordeau anchored the Huskies' defense. Playing in 54 games and starting in 53 of them, Bordeau took the lead on a majority of the Huskies' set pieces. During her career, Bordeau tallied one goal and one assist for three points.
"A great team leader, Nicole has been the anchor to our defense and has played a director on the field," said Petruccelli. "Nicole has the skill to play anywhere, but we needed her to manage our defense and she did so very well. I am very excited that her contributions have been recognized for a second straight season. "
