GORHAM, Maine  –  For the fifth consecutive season, the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's soccer team will host its annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Game.  This season's game coincides with the Huskies' home opener on Wednesday, September 17 (4:00 p.m.).  Southern Maine will host traditional rival Salem State University at the Hannaford Field on the Gorham campus.

The Huskies' women's soccer student-athletes and coaching staff host this event each year as a way to express a "thank you" to the numerous people who help create the student-athlete experience at the University of Southern Maine.

"Some people influence our student-athletes directly with day-to-day contact and as such the athletes are able to say thank you to them directly," noted USM women's soccer coach Lisa Petruccelli.  "Other individuals never or rarely meet with the student-athletes directly; however, it is important to recognize each academic department, support service, service area and administrator who has a role in creating a successful student-athlete experience.  This is a small gesture for the time and efforts given to the students."

Faculty and Staff are encouraged to register when they enter the field.  The Fan Experience Committee will be on hand with Husky Pride t-shirts for all employees.  The department, school, division with the most employees present will earn a $100 catering credit.

Additionally, USM Director of Athletics Al Bean is rumored to have promised to dye his hair blue if more than 50 faculty and staff members are in attendance.
