Colby Blanks Southern Maine 4-0

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's soccer team had four different scorers and piled up a 30-5 shot advantage in taking a 4-0 non-conference victory over University of Southern Maine on Tuesday.

The win lifted the Mules, unbeaten (1-0-2) in their last three games, back to .500 with a 5-5-2 overall record.  The Huskies fall to 4-11-1 overall.

Senior Annie Papadellis (Hopkinton, Mass.) and junior Cami Notaro (Bethesda, Md.) found the net in the opening 45 minutes to stake the home side to a 2-0 lead.  Senior Carly Dee (Wellesley, Mass.) and rookie Sarah Heintz (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) added insurance markers in the second half.

Southern Maine goalkeeper Katie Cobb (Lewiston, Maine) played well, stopping 10 of her season-high 14 saves in the second half.  Colby junior goalkeeper Emily Brook (Duxbury, Mass.) needed to make just one save to earn her fourth shutout.

Papadellis scored her sixth goal of the season at 29:16 of the opening half with a shot into the left corner.  Notaro scored in the 37th minute when she knocked in the rebound of senior Alex Yorke's (Chicago, Ill.) header that was stopped.

Dee scored seven minutes into the second half as she broke past some defenders on the right side with the dribble and lofted a shot into the left hand corner of the net.  Heintz scored her first collegiate goal in the 88th minute.

Southern Maine plays its final regular season home game this Saturday (1:00 p.m.) when Rhode Island College visits Hannaford Field.  Colby travels to in-state rival Bowdoin College on Saturday (12:00 p.m.)
