GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced Monday that University of Southern Maine senior Jordan Grant (Concord, N.H.) was named the women's soccer Rookie of the Week for the week of September 23-29. This is the second time this fall that Grant has been picked as the circuit's top rookie.
In USM's only match last week, Grant tallied the only goal of the match in the 39th minute to give the Huskies a 1-0 victory over Plymouth State University. The victory was the Huskies first over the Panthers at Plymouth since 1998.
After nine games, Grant is the Huskies leading scorer with 13 points on six goals and one assist. The 5-foot-10 forward, who last played competitive soccer in high school, has three game-winning goals this season. She previously was the recipient of the Rookie of the Week citation on September 9.
The Huskies, 4-5 overall and 1-1 in LEC play, travel to Bowdoin College on Tuesday (4:00 p.m.) for a non-conference game.
