GORHAM, Maine -- Junior Hannah Midwinter (Barkhamsted, Conn.) scored the game's only goal 7:55 into overtime to give the Gordon College Fighting Scots a 1-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies Saturday in the second day of play of the season-opening USM Women's Soccer Invitational.

In the other game, senior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J.) scored two second-half goals as SUNY Maritime overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to post a 2-1 win over Thomas College.

Game Four:

The Huskies frustrated the Fighting Scots through regulation time as senior goalie Katie Cobb (Lewiston, Maine) played an outstanding game.  Cobb made nine saves in regulation, including two game-saving tips over the crossbar late in the first half.

Late in the first overtime, sophomore Jamie Breton (Concord, N.H.) won a ball on the right side and made a hard run to the end line.  Breton got around the corner against a USM defender and placed a pass to the top of the six-yard box where Midwinter slotted home a right-footed shot for her second goal of the season.

Gordon senior goalkeeper Kari Christensen (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) was called upon to make three saves to earn her second win and first shutout of the season.

Gordon piled up a 22-8 edge in shots and a 10-3 advantage in the corner kicks.  The Fighting Scots are 2-0 after the weekend.  The Huskies fall to 1-1.

Game Three:

Down 1-0 at the half, SUNY Maritime got the equalizer in the 60th minute as Trenkamp netted her first goal of the season putting a shot past Thomas rookie goalkeeper Paige Leary (Palermo, Maine).  Just over nine minutes later, Trenkamp gave the Privateers the lead with her second goal.

Sophomore Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y.) preserved the Privateers lead making 12 saves.  She came up with a game-saving stop against Thomas sophomore Bronte Howorth (Lincoln, Mass.) with less than three minutes to play.

Junior Kristi Hilton (Monmouth, Maine) gave Thomas a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game converting a pass from senior Elizabeth Goodall (Oakfield, Maine) into her first goal of the season.  Senior goalie Kate Thibodeau (Woolwich, Maine), who played only the first half, protected the margin through the remainder of the half making six saves.

Thomas (0-2) out shot SUNY Maritime (1-1) 19-16 and had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
