            FARMINGTON, Maine -- Senior forwards Heidi DeHaan (Lewiston, Maine/St. Dominic) and Danielle Poulin (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook) each scored goals as the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies shut out the University of Maine Farmington Beavers, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer match at Prescott Field.

            The win snapped a two-match losing skid for the Huskies, and improved their overall record to 2-4-0.  The Beavers slip to 1-2-1 on the season.

            DeHaan, the Huskies leading scorer last season, tallied her first goal of the season in the sixth minute of play to give the Huskies an early lead. Junior goalkeeper Kat Rothe (Leeds, Maine/Leavitt Area) protected the advantage the rest of the opening 45 minutes making seven saves as the Beavers outshot the Huskies, 11-6.

            Poulin gave the Huskies an insurance marker in the 69th minute of play converting a pass from DeHaan into her first goal of the campaign.

            Rothe posted her first clean sheet of the season finishing the match with 12 saves.  Junior Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine) recorded three saves for the Beavers.  The Beavers held a

16-13 edge in shots (12-5 in shots on goal) and piled up a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

            Southern Maine returns to the pitch on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) when it travels to Boston to play the University of Massachusetts Boston in the teams' Little East Conference opener.  UMaine Farmington will play a non-conference match at Wheelock College on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
