GORHAM, Maine -- Junior Shannon Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) scored a game-high six points on four goals and two assists to lead the visiting Plymouth State University Panthers to a 17-6 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Panthers, and improved their record to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in LEC play.  The Huskies dropped to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Rookies Kaitlyn Wilder (Framingham, Mass.) and Caroline Vonachen (Framingham, Mass.) also had four goals apiece for the Panthers.  Junior Molly Gleason (Haverhill, Mass.) chipped in three goals and had a game-high seven draw controls.  Rookie Jordyn Godfrey (Glenville, N.Y.) had a goal and two assists.

Senior goalie Lorin Field (Hollis, N.H.) had a tremendous game frustrating the USM shooters en route to making 15 saves.  Field set the school record for career saves in the second half and now has 493.  She broke the mark of 489 set by Lisa Goldberg (1998-2000).  Junior Casey Curran (Framingham, Mass.) came on in relief of Field with 9:53 to play and registered two stops.

Senior Rosie Forster (Andover, Mass.) led the Huskies with two goals.  Senior Shelby Turcotte (Lewiston, Maine) and junior Laura Fay (Falmouth, Maine) each added a goal and an assist.  Senior goalie Kim Vogel (Sanford, Maine) stopped six shots.

Leading 4-3 with less than eight minutes to play in the opening half, the Panthers scored five unanswered goals before the horn sounded to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.  Wilder scored twice in the surge with Gleason, Connerty and Vonachen finding the net once.

After Fay opened the second half with a free-position goal for the Huskies, the Panthers steadily pulled away.  Wilder and Connerty each scored twice in a seven-minute span to increase the visitors' lead to 13-4 with 16:09 remaining.

Rookie Sam Campobasso (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) snapped the run of PSU goals at 15:22, but the Panthers netted the next three markers to go up 16-5.

Southern Maine closes the regular season this weekend hosting the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) and playing a make-up game at Rhode Island College on Sunday (12:00 p.m.).  Plymouth State finishes the regular season on Saturday hosting Rhode Island College.
