Southern Maine Finishes Third at Maine State Quad Meet
LEWISTON, Maine -- The University of Southern Maine men's track and field team won three individual events Saturday night en route to a third-place finish at the Maine State Quad meet held at Bates College.
Junior Jared Marshall (Gloucester, Mass.) won the 200 meters with a time of 22.57 seconds. Classmate Hany Ramadan (Portland, Maine/Deering) took the top spot in the 400 meters crossing the finish line in 51.06 seconds. In the field events, junior Drew Gamage (Sabbatus, Maine/Oak Hill) stood atop the podium in the triple jump with a mark of 13.83 meters (45-4 ½).
The Huskies 4 x 400-meter relay was runner-up with its combined time of 3:27.31.
Senior Trey Rogers (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) took third in the 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 7.14 seconds. Gamage added a third in the high jump clearing 1.88 meters (6-2). Gamage was one of three USM jumpers to clear 1.88 meters giving the Huskies a three-four-five finish in the event. Sophomore Donivyn Harms (Westbrook, Maine/Rochelle (Ill.) Township) and senior Justin Pierce (Standish, Maine/Mt. Ararat) followed Gamage in the high jump results.
Junior Colin Jones (Scarborough, Maine) finished fourth in the 800 meters with his time of 2:02.12.
Bowdoin College won the meet scoring 223 points. Host Bates was runner-up with 180 points, followed by Southern Maine with 76 and Colby College with 69.
Southern Maine heads to Providence, R.I., next Saturday to compete in the annual New England Alliance and Little East Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
