Tristan Dundas Earns All-GNAC Honors | Huskies Finish Fifth at 2017 GNAC Championship

 

WARWICK, R.I. –  Led by a fourth place individual finish from Tristan Dundas, the University of Southern Maine Huskies' golf team finished fifth out of nine teams at the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship played hosted by Rhode Island College at the Valley Country Club over the weekend.

 

Southern Maine placed fifth with a 626 (319-307) after 36 holes of team golf.  Johnson and Wales claimed the championship with a score of 601 (297-304).  Just six strokes separated the second through fifth place teams with Rhode Island College claiming the runner-up spot with a score of 620, followed by UMass Dartmouth and St. Joseph's College (Maine) in third with a 621.

 

In the top 10 after the first round of championship golf was complete with a score of 76, Dundas shaved two strokes off of his day two effort to finish with a total of 150 (76-74) for a six-over-par effort. By finishing in the top five of the 45-golfer field, Dundas earned All-GNAC honors. 

 

The Huskies' next three scoring golfers finished in the top 22.  Kyle Morin placed 16th, Grayson Waterman finished 20th while Ryan Dee and Greg Kalagias placed 22nd and 24th overall. Morin shot a 157 (80-77), while Waterman posted a 159 (82-77), and Dee carded a 160 (81-79).  Kalagias, the 2016 GNAC Rookie of the Year, shot a 161 (82-79).

 

Southern Maine returns to action on Sunday, October, 22 at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship.
